Put a Guard Over My Lips...
Dear Friend,
I used to have a problem with loose lips, I would say whatever, there was no filter or guard. I didn't realize my words were charting a course for my destiny. I didn't recognize my words had so MUCH power. Perverse speech isn't just words that are profane, perverse speech is (of a person or their actions) showing a deliberate and obstinate desire to behave in a way that is unreasonable or unacceptable, often in spite of the consequences. So for us, speech that doesn't align with God's will for our life. Speech that isn't like God is murmuring, complaining, hateful and condemning etc.
Proverbs 18-21 Death and Life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
Matthew 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil (Proverbs 4:23-27).We are in a war with our mouths! It's time that we get them aligned with the Word of God. The Words we say, create our environments and charts our destiny. What words have you said this morning, that will chart the course of your day? Am I talking in the God kind of Faith?
Prayer: Father we pray this morning that we guard our mouths. Send your Holy Spirit to guide us so that we walk in wisdom and are not guided by our emotions. In Jesus Name. Amen
Guarding My Mouth,
LMJ
