Peace of God!
Dear Friends,
Philippians 4:7 (Amp.) “And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus [is yours].”
My husband delivers packages on his job. Often times people know exactly what they have ordered and receive their packages with a simple signature. Then, there are the times when he tries to make a delivery, and the person refuses to receive the package and won't sign for it. It’s not that he didn’t attempt to deliver them the package, they just refused to receive it. We spend a big part of our everyday lives working for peace. However, the peace that Paul speaks of is not something that can be achieved, it must be received
We all seek the pursuit of peace:
People seeking peace for our country, so they stand in lines for hours hoping to vote for the right person. People wanting world peace, so they fight for it, hoping these wars create peace. People want peace in their families, so they work hard to provide them with what they need, hoping met needs bring peace. People want peace in their relationships, so they do their part not to bring offense, but it still it doesn't bring peace. To sum it all, pursuing peace on our own, is a lot of work.
Can I tell you something? The peace we work so hard to have, can only be found in Christ Jesus. His peace when received, is the only true peace that transcends our understanding. Unfortunately, when the Spirit of God is trying to get us to receive His peace (the package), for our own reasons we refuse (forfeit) it. His peace for us didn’t come without a price. Isaiah 53:5,(NIV) “……………the punishment that brought us peace was on him.” Jesus took on the punishment for us to have His Peace.
The peace the Lord our God gives, is not contingent to our surroundings, but the posture of our hearts and minds. We have to take a position of rest in the peace HE died to give us. NO one, NO thing, can give us this peace, it can only be received by faith from God.
Say it with me, “Lord, I receive your peace.”
Receive His Peace,
Chanda Rose
