Make a Note...
Dear Friend,
Two weeks ago, I told my 9 year old niece I was going to take her to a Drive Thru event at our church on a particular day. My niece said, “I need a sticky note.” I asked her why she would need a post it note. She responded, “I am going to write on the sticky note the day and time you are taking me because I don’t want to forget something important to me.” Her words resonated with me and made me think about what is important to me.
Many of us make note of important things. We write down appointments in our calendars, Birthdays and Anniversaries of our friends and family, and meetings we must attend. As much as I don’t want to forget important dates and meetings, I don't want to forget God’s Word and what He’s said about His character and concerning me.
“Therefore you shall lay up these My words in your (minds and) hearts and in your (entire) being, and bind them for a sign upon your hands and as forehead bands between your eyes. And you shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you rise up. And you shall write them upon the doorposts of your house and on your gates, That your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.” Deuteronomy 11: 18-21
As those who profess to love God, we should love His Word. In order to love the Word, we have to study it, spend time in it, listen to it continually, and write it down. What do you need to remember about God in this season? Perhaps you need to be reminded that when He is for you, who can be against you. Or maybe you need to remember He gives you the desires of your heart when you delight in Him. Find the corresponding scripture in His word and write it down! Post the Word where you will be reminded of it often. Encourage yourself with the Word!
