Standing on Tiptoe...

Dear Friends,

I have always been short in statue. Throughout my life there has been numerous times that I have had to tiptoe. Reaching for items on the top shelves in grocery store, in a swimming pool where water 5 feet…lol, and trying to see above the crowd. I remember one particular time, I had gone to see New Edition, at Barton Coliseum fair grounds. Oh, I could feel the excitement brewing in me, as we danced our way through various artist waiting on the main attractions to hit the stage. Although, the artist before New Edition, had come out and performed their hearts out. My expectation and excitement wasn’t set on those artist. It was set on seeing “New Edition.” Well the light went out, and the stage lights came on with all their sparkle and shine, and out came “New Edition” opening to “Candy Girl.” Although, I was standing on tiptoe, I could only still slightly see them. Talking about disappointment, but still trying to make the best of the moment. A complete stranger recognized my struggle, and extended me an invite to his shoulders. Although him shouldering my weight, may have caused him discomfort. He gladly did it to give me a better view to the main attraction.

Much like that concert that day, many Christian experience and see the glory of God without obscurity. However, let’s pay attention to those around us who are on tiptoe, trying to see and experience the Glory of our God. May our eyes be wide open to those who need our shoulders (strength) to stand on during this time. It may cause us some suffering and/or a little discomfort, but if it allows them a better view of our God who is our Hope….then it’s all worth it.

Romans 8:18-23

I am convinced that any suffering we endure is less than nothing compared to the magnitude of glory that is about to be unveiled within us. 19 The entire universe is standing on tiptoe, yearning to see the unveiling of God’s glorious sons and daughters! 20 For against its will the universe itself has had to endure the empty futility[ resulting from the consequences of human sin. But now, with eager expectation, 21 all creation longs for freedom from its slavery to decay and to experience with us the wonderful freedom coming to God’s children. 22 To this day we are aware of the universal agony and groaning of creation, as if it were in the contractions of labor for childbirth. 23 And it’s not just creation. We who have already experienced the first fruits of the Spirit also inwardly groan as we passionately long to experience our full status as God’s sons and daughters—including our physical bodies being transformed. 24 For this is the hope of our salvation.
