Where is the Lord?
Dear Friend,
Check out a devotional by friend D. Andrews
The priests did not ask, ‘Where is the Lord?’ Those who taught my word ignored me, the rulers turned against me, and the prophets spoke in the name of Baal, wasting their time on worthless idols. Jeremiah 2:8 NLT
GiG, several years ago, during an evening of reading, this simple truth illuminated my thinking. We are simply to recall and retell. We are to set the example. God gives us such a directive for three reasons:
When we see the Lord in every aspect of our lives, we will remain curious about where He will show up next.
When we lose our spiritual curiosity, we will most likely lose our way.
Taking notice of God’s whereabouts will boost our faith and give us something to bookmark and share.
Oh, let’s not get this twisted; the Lord doesn’t want our lives to become museums of collected relics seen from a distance under protective glass. Oh, but no! He wants our testimonies to be living stones that can be touched, felt, and handled.
13 Elisha picked up Elijah’s cloak, which had fallen when he was taken up. Then Elisha returned to the bank of the Jordan River. 14 He struck the water with Elijah’s cloak and cried out, “Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” Then the river divided, and Elisha went across. 2 Kings 2:13-14 NLT
Oh, where are our Ebenezer stones today? Are they on display for others to see so they will be encouraged to erect their own? Our answer today to “Where is the Lord?” will remain obvious—He is right there where He has always been.
May we be encouraged to not grow weary-the LORD never stumbles.
God’s Got It…so we can DRAW NEAR—Help us to listen when you speak to us. Whether awake or asleep, open our eyes and heart to whatever You want to communicate to us.
