Tangled Up
Dear Friend,
Last week we were wrapping things up preparing for our move. I had dried some bed sheets, but I had a small load left in the washer. The sheets were already dry, but instead of taking them out. I just add the small load of wet clothes to the dryer. After, the dryer had finished. I went to remove the clothes and notice that my fitted sheet had gotten entangled around the clothes that I added. I mean the time that I had thought I had saved throwing those clothes in with the dry sheets, was not time saved at all. I was now there trying to figure first how did these clothes get so entangled. While working hard to make sure I didn’t tear the sheets.
I began to reflect of what it look like to be free and then go entangle myself back into sin, or allow someone else to entangle me.
2 Peter 2:20 NLT “And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before.”
Liken those dry sheets to our freedom in Christ Jesus. He has washed with His blood, cleansed us , and we are dry and free in Him. Then we allow our desires for this world, our sin nature (wet clothes) to be thrown on us. We know the wet clothes are heavy, we know the feeling of the wet clothes. Yet we allow the lust of our eyes, the lust of our flesh, and desires of this world to distract us. The guess what my friend, before we know it we are entangled again.
The Dictionary defines “Entangle” as,
*“cause to become twisted together with or caught in.”
*”involve (someone) in difficulties or complicated circumstances from which it is difficult to escape.
2 Timothy 2:4 NIV, “No one serving as a solder gets entangled in civilian affair, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.”
We have been enlisted in the Army of God, we are no longer civilian of the world system. Our Commanding Officer, the Lord Jesus Christ, has given us our military orders and it’s a mandate that we follow them. When we follow his orders (word) we can be assured that we will remain untangled in Him. If there any area in our lives that we have entangled ourselves to this world system, we repenting now. The use to having a saying, “Do It for the Vine. Well guess what? We declaring we will “Do It for Kingdom!”
Untangled in Christ,
Chanda Rose
