The Word is A Mirror
Dear Friend,
Have you ever tried to get dressed, put on makeup, or do your hair without a mirror? No matter how often we have done these things, most of us would rather have a mirror. A mirror lets you see yourself from a different perspective. Did you know that the one thing you’ll never be able to see without a mirror is your face? Every other part of your body can be seen with your own eyes, except your face. All we ever see is just a reflection! Could you go your whole life without ever being able to see your face?
James helps us with this...(James 1:23-25)
23 For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
That’s seems silly to forget what you look like right after seeing your reflection, but the Word says that this is exactly what we do at times. As believers, we are born of the God. And He and His Word are one (See John 1:1). So each time we choose to disobey it’s as if we’re forgetting who we really are! The blessing of the Lord comes to us when we are in alignment with what He says. It’s vital that we know what the Word says and do it! It’s not fruitful to just listen and not obey!
Jesus is a living expression of the Word of God. And since He is on the inside of us, we should also be living expression of the Word of God!
Prayer: Father, I thank you for your Word! I thank you that it is like a mirror shows me what to do and how to handle any situation. I thank you for ears to hear and understand. And a heart that is willing and obedient. I ask that you give me a hunger for your Word like never before. May I fresh eyes, tender heart, and a Kingdom perspective about my life! I want you to get the Glory out of my life so I can manifest your will in the Earth! In the name of Jesus, Amen!
Grateful for the Word of God,
Jess
