Pride and Patience...
Dear Friend, Patience is defined as the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset. Recently, I began to reflect on the places where I’ve believed I was patient...I’m a teacher so I’m patient with my students. I’m a wife and mother so I have to be patient (right). I’m human I have to be patient with myself. And then I paused. The Holy Spirit said, “But look at each one of those and ask yourself how’s your attitude?” I immediately realized that I wasn’t as patient as I thought. I noticed that pride had me fooled thinking that I was more patient. I have been inconsistent in remaining tolerable and loving without getting upset. Patience is there I just have to exercise it more. There’s work to be done. But it’s not on me! Galatians 5:22-23 says that patience is a fruit of the Spirit! The only way fruit can manifest is if the tree is properly cared for. We are trees and we are properly cared for by God. We have to remain planted in His presence and immerse ourselves in the Word of God! Today ask the Holy Spirit to help you in your journey and process. Ask Him for an insatiable appetite for the Word that you become so full of Him that He only comes out. Ask Him for the Grace to be patient with yourself and others. Ask Him to help you love others and to love yourself like He does! Give us eyes to see just how patient You (God) are with us! Be patient in the process, Jess
