Don't Give him a foothold...

Dear Friends,

A few weeks ago, my son Judah was getting in the car after school, and says to me, "Mom, a little boy at school was about to spit on my friends sister, and I stood up for her and told him not to spit on her." At this point I am excited at his nobility, it's what happens next that begins to transform the conversation. He said, "Mom, but then he turned around and spit on me!" I slowly turned around in my seat. I could feel my uneasiness and myself getting upset. I said, "What did you do?" He said, "I didn't do anything because the teacher was right there and I let her handle it, I knew if I had handled it it would have gone wrong. I wanted to slap him!" At that time I co-signed the later, but I knew he made the right decision. He made a decision, that kept the enemy from getting a foothold (see Ephesians 4:26), turning this into a worse situation. I am proud of him, because honestly I didn't have the same thoughts in my head.

How often does our anger get the best of us? How quick are we to allow the enemy to come right into a situation, because our "human nature" becomes the guiding force? Judah used wisdom, which we should all do, at all times. He made the RIGHT choice, to allow the authority (the teacher) to handle the situation. How often do we allow the "authority", the Holy Spirit to guide us, to allow the Word to be the guiding voice, in our most difficult situations. We can learn a lesson from Judah, several but the one I learned best, is to not allow the enemy to come in the situation, to allow "the authority" to handle the situation, so that God can get the glory. I am reminded today, Romans 12:17,"Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone." Selah
