Don't Text and Drive...

Dear Friend, You’ve seen the commercials and read the billboards...Don’t text. Just Drive. This has become a message of caution for all of us. I remember a time when distracted driving was caused by things like children or eating. But now it’s checking notifications, trying to make a phone call or return a text message. Driving while distracted should have a warning label like some of these medication commercials...(in my best voiceover voice)”Driving while distracted can cause an accident which may result in death!” So if we can abide by the warnings and mandates about driving while distracted then we surely can live by the commands in the Word of God! The Bible clearly lays out the strategy and wisdom on distractions. It says in Proverbs 4:25-26 Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.

In order to remain focused on what’s in front of us it takes discipline. This just doesn’t happen over night. We must be consistent and patient. With the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit we can walk it out. Just like the dangers of being distracted while operating a vehicle; how lethal can we be living our lives recklessly distracted. How much more is the value of your life and the lives of others that we affect when we’re distracted. We could be injuring them or even cause their death because we were out of place. When we are not focused we are not fulfilling the plans and purpose of our lives. And the enemy of our souls comes to steal, kill, and destroy. One of his tactics is distractions. Stay focused today by staying in His presence and meditating the Word of God! No more distractions, Jess
