Wreck Anxiety!

Today's devotional is from my good friend D. Andrews from San Diego!

Good Morning Ladies (and few gents),

Today’s devotion included below “Three Ways to Wreck Anxiety and Fear” is a reminder from GiG Kelly that, “Anxiety speaks like a dictator and lives like bondage. Jesus speaks like peace and brings deliverance to life.” She continues to point out that, “The best way to beat fear is to not fear it. The best way to beat fear is to acknowledge it, repent of it and then douse it with love.” I am so down with that! And I hope you are too.

GiG, although I know there is still plenty of time left before my vacation ends, I’m back on the grid, and back in the thick of things—Saturday GiG, facilitating Emotional Healthy Courses on Spirituality/Relationships, supervising The Landing, as well as SYMBIS training which is something new Darrell and I are looking forward to doing as a couple; mind you these are all very good, rewarding, eternity-minded, and God-ordering things; yet there is a twinge of anxiety trying to rear its ugly head in the midst of serenity and peace. OUCH!

However, when this starts to happen, my mind has enough muscle memory to quickly recognize the truth. The devil wants me to get distracted (often using other people to do it), lose hope, and pull-back. But he’s a liar and father of lies.

GiG, in Christ, you and I can stay focused, have great hope, and press onward. Physical rest, being unplugged, and spending consistent, purposed time in God’s Word is so vital to our health. Have you made the mistake of negating rest, trying to live lives burning the candle at both ends? Trust me on this, it won’t take long before we’ll regret it.

GiG, David, a man after God’s own heart points us in the right direction in Psalm 143:8 NLT…

“Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you.”

Are there areas in your life where insecurity is showing up? Are you recognizing its effects? Such as, (1) difficulty establishing good, lasting relationships, (2) appearing to be prideful, arrogant or simply not wanting to be around other people, (3) indecisiveness and fear which may lead to not trying.

Can you see how something as subtle as a lack of confidence can have a debilitating effect on one’s life? GiG, let’s pray for one another and the ability to recognize areas of self-doubt. May we be encouraged to start taking control and ask the Lord to heal our insecurities.

One of my former US Navy students, Greg Storch who is currently a motivational speaker said it this way, “Sometime we have to give up to go up!” I do believe he has a point. Yup, it’s simple ADDITION THROUGH SUBTRACTION. We add to our life by removing those things that are having a negative impact or consequence on us. Consider this throughout the week.

God’s Got It…so have FAITH—we were made ON purpose FOR a purpose.

Walk in the cadence of His calling.

Have a “Make It Happen” Monday, August 13, 2018—combat insecurity, fear and anxiety: muster together, move forward, and make His purpose the priority.

Called to serve and encouraging others to thrive,

DEA
