It's a Light or Death Situation!
Dear Friend, As I walk throughout the neighborhood I love to look at the landscape and admire the trees. One day I passed a pine tree leaned against a house that looked like it was half alive and half dead. I was puzzled at the sight of it because it didn’t make sense. I’ve seen trees with dead branches or damaged sections, but never half of a tree dead?!??! When I got a closer look I realized that it wasn’t one tree at all but rather two! But because they were so close together it was difficult to tell where one tree started and the other one ended.
Reflecting on this moment I thought about all the times I may have been so close to things that didn't reflect the Kingdom of God that someone may have looked at me the same way. In 2 Corinthians 6:14 reminds us to not be unequally yolked with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? These two trees should've never been this close. The dead one should be removed and allow the healthy tree to live and flourish!
Take a look at your own life. Are you surrounded by "light minded people" that are Kingdom citizens? Do the people you associate with exemplify your beliefs and the truth of the Word of God? Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to your attention any unhealthy relationships in your life. You don't want to go around like the two trees I passed and send mixed signals to the world!
Choosing life and light daily,
Jess
