Hi I'm Jessica, I am a control freak!
Dear Friend,
Hi, my name is Jessica and I’m working on trying not to control everything. Especially when it comes to my children. When my oldest girls (who are 9 and 10) were younger, it seemed to be quite easy to keep up with every little thing they did. When they’d ride their bikes up and down the street I would remind them to be on high alert for any and everything.
1)Watch out for cars. 2) Ride on the opposite side of the ride to see on coming traffic. 3) Watch out for strangers. 4) No racing. 5) Stop at the stop signs. 6) Don’t cut each other off. 7) Keep both hands on the handle bars...You get the picture. The list went on and on! The list was so long I don’t think they actually enjoyed being outside. Until one day while I watched them ride, I began to play the worry recording over and over in head. “Jessica what if they get hit by car, then what...” I then heard God simply say, “I’ve got them, just like I’ve got you!” In that moment, I stood there and felt the release of pressure and knew God watches over my children in a way that I never could. I immediately began to reflect on those moments it had been just me and Him. Just the two of us. And guess what...I’m still here! He has never left me nor forsaken me. (Deuteronomy 31:6) So today take a deep breath and let go. God’s got you! You’re not omnipresent, omnipotent, or omniscience. Stop trying to control everything. God is our Father and He’s got everything under control. Releasing the Responsibility,
Jess
