It has holes in it.....

Dear Friend,

I remember when I was a little kid, I had a thing for balloons (most of us probably did). I don’t know that it was the balloon itself as much as among most of my friends, I was the only one that knew who how to tie them at the end. I remember one time one of my siblings was trying to blow a balloon up but they couldn’t. They kept trying and trying. They brought it to me (full of spit) to see if I could blow it up, I began to try to blow it up but it would only get so big. I remember a little trick my mom had taught me and I put my hand around the balloon. I found the issue there was a hole in the balloon. I explained to my little sibling there is a hole in this balloon, you need to get you another one. She had a creative idea, she went and got some tape and put a piece of tape over the hole. It seemed logical to her, she then proceeded to try and blow the balloon up again, but it didn’t work, it only got so big. She kept looking at me, and asking me why isn’t this working, and I told her because the hole is still there and the tape, while it seems to appear it can patch it isn’t the natural part of how the balloon is made, just go get another balloon.

Our faith sometimes has “holes” in it, we try to patch it with other things; alternate solutions, reasons of why it didn’t work. Sometimes we just out right blame God. But have we really checked our faith for holes? James 1:6, “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” Think about how many times we have asked God for something and then doubted or began to question whether or not it was going to happen or just gave up on it all together. If there is a hole in your faith, your balloon can’t ever fill up it won’t ever reach the full potential of what it is supposed to be. Faith can’t be taken lightly it displays the partnership between you and God (see Hebrews 11:6). And if you remember from your childhood it is pure exhausting to blow up a balloon with a hole in it, your cheeks would give out.

Encouraging Your Faith,

LMJ
