Keep the Main Thing...
Keeping the Main Thing, the Main Thing…. By LaKisha M. Johnson
Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”
Years ago I had read a book, called first things first, I believe by Paula White. Some of the things that I read came to mind this morning. We have to remember to trust God in our most difficult moments, but also to keep God as our priority above everything. Seek HIM first, look for him first, search for him first, and everything else will work itself out. If we take our eyes off Him, and began to focus on other things, we will be much like Peter (Matthew 14:30) and began to sink. So keep the main thing, the main thing.
I. Being Led and You Can’t See- 119:148 & Psalm 63:1 - You have to keep the main thing the main thing. Saul and David both learned to trust God in their most difficult moments.
II. God’s promises are not manifested on the basis of your good works.2 Timothy 1:9; Ephesians 2:9,
III. It is our FAITH that moves God. Faith empowers you to receive all of God. When you keep the first things first, you align yourself with His plan and see His purposes revealed. Hebrews 11:6, Matthew 8:2, Matthew 8:8, Matthew 14:35-36
IV. Every time we step out in obedience, He moves in divine direction. (Genesis 12:1-20)
V. God always sends a messenger- 2 Chronicles 36:15, Malachi 3:1, Exodus 23:20, Isaiah 40:35, Daniel 8:15-16, Zechariah 1:12-21.
Key Things to remember: 1) Don’t try to open your own doors to get ahead. 2) Give it your all 3) Take one step at a time 4) Be destined to want God’s presence in your life daily. 5) Identify those things that are hindering you, so that you can get them out the way.
Prayer: Father thank you for always considering us first. Holy Spirit, help me to keep my eyes on God, so that I can stay the course he has for me. I want to keep the main thing, the main thing. In Christ Jesus. Amen
