This is A Test! This is only a Test!

This is a Test, This is Only A Test by LaKisha M. Johnson

Romans 8:18……………….I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that is revealed in us.

When I was little there was an alert that used to come on television. A set of bars that looked like a colorful bar scan would come on television and they would be accompanied by the following words. “This is a test of the Emergency Broadcast System. Broadcasters, in cooperation with the FCC and other authorities (or, in later years, "federal, state and local authorities") have developed this system to keep you informed in the event of an emergency. "If this had been an actual emergency, you would have been instructed to tune to one of the broadcast stations in your area. This is only a test.”

Recently my family received some devastating news about one of our loved ones. I have to admit the words given to me by the doctor, made the human side of me sad. I love my family and I always take their suffering personal. When I woke up this morning I was meditating on the situation and praying for her. And I heard the voice of the Lord say, “This is only a test.” So I asked the Lord, to show me this in His word, because this looked like it constituted an emergency. His words, “The promises of God are yes and amen (2 Cor 1:20). As a teacher, I know that in a test the way you answer will determine whether or not you pass or fail. The word of God is infallible and will always cause us to have victory in Him. As I began to study and meditate and study in my devotional time the Holy Spirit guided me to a few scriptures and reminded me of a couple of things. 1) The things of this world are not eternal (Romans 8:18). 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, “For our light and temporary affliction is producing for us an eternal glory that far outweighs our troubles. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

This isn’t our home, this isn’t our final resting place, if we are going to truly operate in who we are in Christ, we have to remember that these things that we face in the natural are only a distraction to keep us from the eternal. They are sent so that we forget our assignment here on earth (2 Corinthians 5:20) sent here to disciple, love and serve. God compels us in his word over and over again to not be anxious or worried about the things we see (Matthew 6:27), worry adds no value to our life. 2) The bible provides us with what we need to past the test, we have the ultimate cheat sheet and there is a solution to every problem if we will trust the Word of God and stand on His promises. God ultimately puts us in a win, win situation if we will only remember that this is only a test. Romans 12: 2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Remember that we aren’t wrestling against flesh and blood (that includes the manifestations in our body) we wrestle against powers of darkness (Ephesians 6:12) that are determined to keep us from fulfilling our assignment here on earth. This is a test, it is only a test and your response to it is everything. My uncle said something to me the other night when we were talking. He said, “LaKisha one decision charts the course of your destiny, you can easily set yourself up to win (pass that test)".

Side Note: The only constituted emergency for God, is when someone is on their way to hell. Everything else is already guaranteed win.

Prayer: Father thank you for providing us with the answers for the test that we have in life. The promises of God are yes and amen. Help us to fix our eyes on what is eternal and not internal so that we can advanced the kingdom for you. We thank you for victory in every area in our lives in Jesus Name. Amen
