Don't Waste Your Time!

Don’t Waste Your Time by LaKisha M. Johnson

Ephesians 5: 15-17 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.

Time doesn’t wait for anyone, I am sure we have heard that all our lives. But in this world we live in, we often take time for granted. We either abuse our time by doing too much and over extending ourselves or we waist our time by becoming distracted by those things around us that were sent to distract us, social media, strife, contentions, entertainment etc. Our time does not belong to us, it belongs to God. If we are going to walk out His will for our life, and tap into our divine purpose, we will have to be come mindful of our time (Ecclesiastes 3:1-22). You can’t get time back. I just spent 2 minutes writing these first few lines, I can’t get these minutes back. However I can learn to maximize my time by moving forward and being a better manager or steward of the time that God allows us to have. Time management is essential in our society today, sometimes we take on too much, things that look good on our resumes but don’t line up with God’s will for our life. So I will challenge you today to ask God, “Am I doing what you want to do with my time?” Some of us need to work more, some of us need to work less and some of us need to spend more time with our family and some of us need to spend more time with God. We will only find out about our time if we utilize the Holy Spirit to guide us to these things (Ephesians 6:18).

If you want to figure out whether or not you are wasting God’s time you can ask two simple things, Is it producing fruit and is it done in love (Galatians 5:22-23)? If it isn’t producing fruit, then it won’t yield a harvest. If we aren’t aligned with His will for our life, we will work tirelessly on things that don’t produce fruit. God’s will for us is to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28), this isn’t just for having babies, this is multiplying the kingdom as well. So what are you doing with your time? Is the Lord pleased with how you are spending your time? What about your social time? Of course we are social beings, we will spend time with each other. Be careful with your “social” time so that you don’t contract an STD (socially transmitted disease), like worry, doubt, fear and anxiety, when we spend time socializing with these we waist God’s time and they are the weights that slow us down and keep us from moving into our destiny (Matthew 6:25-34). God wants a free to serve Him, even in our time, but if we aren’t good stewards we will find ourselves and wasteful and missing the opportunity to walk into our destinies (Matthew 6:33).

Prayer: Father thank you for showing me how to manage your time. My time is your time and I apologize for wasting this. I want to be pleasing and acceptable to you. In Jesus Name. Amen
