Lay Aside Every Weight Part 2
Lay Aside the Weight Part 2 by LaKisha M. Johnson
This week on my Facebook Live we have been talking about “kingdom” advancement, reflecting the kingdom of Heaven here on earth. Matthew 6:10 says “your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Jesus was teaching them how to pray, so He gave us permission to pray the will of heaven for here on earth. It is also permissible for us to expect and reflect it here on earth. Heaven is made whole; it stands in need of nothing. So if we are the kingdom, shouldn’t earth reflect it also? Yes it should, but it is often difficult because there are gaps in the kingdom. These gaps occur when we aren’t in position walking out our God given purpose. One of the reasons we can’t walk out our purpose is because we carry way too many “weights”. These are the things that overwhelm us and keep up from standing or filling in our “kingdom slot”. These aren’t always sin. These can be things like worry, doubt, fear or jealousy. These won’t keep us from getting to heaven, but they keep us from reflecting heaven here on earth. They keep us from walking into our kingdom assignments because they “weight” us down and fill our thoughts and become our way of living. If we are weighted down, we can’t hear or move as the Holy Spirit is trying to instruct us.
Hebrews 12: 1 says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us”. That means WE have to do it, it isn’t up to God. We have to choose to let go of these weights and renew our minds with the Word of God, so that we can “run this race” or walk in our God given purpose. The only way we can do that, is that we identify the weights and deal with them? What are you weighted with? What are you carrying that is keeping you from walking into your God given destiny? Romans 12: 2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.” This means Kingdom thinking for Kingdom advancement. A renewed mind puts you in the will of God for your life. When you are in position then the kingdom is lacking nothing, and we serve God and serve the people that need us. Are you ready? Come on let’s lay aside that weight.
Prayer: Father thank you for showing me the “weights” I’ve been carrying. They don’t line up with your will for my life. You said your yoke is easy and your burden is light. Please help me to renew my mind, so that I can walk into Christ like living. I thank you for your living Word active in my life. In Jesus Name. Amen
